Markers & spods for carp fishing

Markers and spods are often used for carp fishing at larger distances. In cases which a throwing stick or slingshot isn't helping, you can use the spod to carry the bait to great distances and very accurately. The spod goes on to a stiff spod rod with a large big pit reel. This solid rod and reel is needed, because a filled spod can sometimes weigh more than a couple of hunderds of gram and the average carp rod cannot cast this. Next to that, you will cast it many times for your bait spot(s). So the rod and reel have to handle heavy conditions .
Next to the to spod, nowadays there is a spomb. Which is a kind of "rocket" in which you can put the bait and cast it to your bait spot, just like a spod. When the spomb hits the surface it will open automatically.
Both the spod and the spomb are designed aerodynamic to the heavy weight will fly easily thru the air.

With a marker you can accurately discover the depts and bottom of an entire lake. When you are very interested in what depth you want to fish, this is an ideal solution if you do not want to use a bait boat. The marker is mounted on the line together with the lead as a running system. You will cast the lead to the spot in the water of which you want to know the depth. After casting you will pull the marker to the lead. Now you can start measuring. A marker rod has a pre-measured marking on the rod, so you can let go a piece of line from the start of the marking till the end. You repeat this movent till the marker reaches the surface.
As said before, you will need a marker rod to do this because of the pre-measured marking on the rod. But if you don't have a marker rod you can also use a regular carp rod of 12 ft of at least 2.75 lb. On this rod you put a marking on it by yourself or you think of a different way to measure the depth by the amount of line you let go. As for the reel, you can you use every kind of spinning reel if it has enough line capacity.

again on a heavy spod rod with big pit to reach all distances.
